Employee experience is often thought of as a subset of HR. But shouldn't it be the other way around?
EX involves IT, finance, facilities, internal communications, and many other functions. And of course, leadership and managers play a vital role, too.
HR is often the driving force. But orchestrating all aspects of the employee experience requires full dedication and a high level of influence.
A Chief Employee Experience Officer is someone who oversees the processes, systems, and environment that shape the employee journey. Someone who applies a people-first mindset across functions. Someone who connects the dots and navigates change.
Every People leader can think and act more like a CEXO.

EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE
Employee experience is not an HR initiative
Experience-driven teams create environments where employees donโt just need to show up for work, they want to show up (whether in person or remotely). But creating an exceptional experience for employees shouldn't fall solely to the HR team. Other departments like IT, procurement, finance, payroll, office and workplace teams, and others can have a big impact on how employees feel about their jobs.
The team at Remote has made their employee handbook public. Check it out for tons of carefully crafted People policies, helpful pointers for remote & hybrid teams, and more. [Notion]
Zip's Chief of Staff is breaking up with the future of work. Jennifer Mumford wants to focus on trends in our current reality: Managers as "connector coaches," making wellness part of the total compensation package, and rethinking leadership principles for hybrid work. [LinkedIn]
Your company might need a "change audit." April Rinne says the most common impediments to navigating change well are team burnout and/or anxiety, lack of trust, a โjust deal with itโ culture, and insufficient metrics. [HBR]
Remote work is less common than we believe. A vast majority of people working remotely overestimated how many other people were doing the same, according to one survey. [The Atlantic]
Wellbeing shouldn't feel like another to-do. Research shows that in stressful times, trust and communication are most effective in preventing burnout. Wellness practices and apps can help too, but they shouldn't feel like โjust one more thing to do.โ [Fast Company]
